Working with Chris has helped me feel better in my body than I have for 25 years, and more like myself as well. I had been in pain for so long that I had stopped noticing how it prevented me from doing simple things like going for walks. Now I'm back to walking without pain, and finding it easier to play the flute and violin than ever before. Finally, the way my music teachers always wanted me to use my body has become something I can do!

The methods of RolfingĀ® Structural Integration center around the body's connective tissue, also known as fascia. This tissue forms a web throughout the body, giving it structure and support, and helping transfer force and movement.
When an area becomes constricted through injury, overuse, or postural
habits, effects ripple across the whole web, sometimes resulting in pain
or motion restrictions in places that are far away from the problem.
Think about a spider web, with its many interwoven silky strands. Imagine
tugging on one strand. You can see how that little disturbance might cause
damage somewhere else along the web, possibly in a weaker strand or a
place where several lines of tension meet.
Our bodies are not made of silky strands, of course, but our fascia and
bones connect in a structure that balances tension and compression. This
tensional integrity or tensegrity gives the body its strength and flexibility.
Structural Integration balances this whole superstructure of tissue,
releasing constrictions and tangles in the pattern, and bringing relief
and freedom to the body and spirit.
We call this whole process integration or organization of the body. How
do we restore tensegrity? What do we actually do? Here's
what to expect.
